FAQ & stuff and junk!

Hey, I have an easy one for you. When is NC Comicon 2015?
November 13-15, 2015 at the Durham Convention Center, 301 West Morgan St, Durham, NC 27701

How long do I have to buy advance tickets to NC Comicon?
You have from now until Nov 12th (although any online advance tickets purchased after Nov 1st will need to be picked up from the Carolina Theater). Also, tickets can be purchased at either of the Ultimate Comics locations or the Carolina Theater. And, of course, tickets will be available onsite the day of.

I just ordered advance tickets. Will I get something in the mail?

Yes! Your tickets will come in the mail shortly after your purchase – up until 2 weeks before the event. If you purchase your tickets online on Nov 1st or after, they will need to be picked up at the box office at the Carolina Theater. At the show you will be able to redeem the tickets for your badge or wristband.

If I’ve purchased an advance ticket, but for some reason am unable to attend, can I get a refund?
Unfortunately, we are unable to offer refunds on any ticket purchases. Thanks for understanding.

Where is the badge/wristband redemption tent located?
It is located in the courtyard of the Durham Convention Center, located adjacent to the fountain.

Do I really need to wear that wristband all weekend?
Yes. You must NOT remove the wristband once it is on your wrist! This will be your entry to the convention all weekend. We cannot be responsible for lost wristbands, nor will we replace them: if you misplace your wristband, you will have to purchase a new one in order to enter the convention hall. If a wristband is too tight, please return to the redemption tent to have a volunteer remove it and give you a new one. DON’T TAKE IT OFF YOURSELF, or you gotta buy a new one.

How long do I have to purchase or secure space as an exhibitor at NC Comicon 2015?
We are fully sold out this year, and we generally sell out of table and booth space around June. Reserve your table early in 2016, as we do not oversell our rooms. We ensure vendors and artists the best customer-to-dealer ratio.

When can I get on the floor of the Convention Center for setup?

Exhibitors, Guests, and Artists Alley will be allowed on the floor for setup at the following times:

Thursday (setup): 12pm – 7pm
Friday (setup):  8am – 2:45pm
Saturday (setup):  7am – 9:45am
Sunday (setup):  9:30am

How do I get onto the loading dock?
The loading dock entrance is located on West Chapel Hill Street.

Where do I go to check in and get my badges, etc.?
There will be a temporary table set up in the front of the convention on Thursday and Friday.

When can I get onto the loading dock to load out on Sunday?
The loading dock will open at 5pm, and there is NO early load out. There will be a line to get onto the dock, so we suggest you take that into consideration when planning your load-out procedure.

Where’s…all the stuff?

We’ll be handing out free program guides that have ALL the information that you need to find everything cool at the show! And feel free to flag down one of our awesome volunteers (they’re wearing bright orange) and get them to give you the skinny on events if you feel confused or elated beyond your sanities’ reach!

What is your weapon policy?
No functional weapons are allowed at NC Comicon.
Simulated or costume weapons are allowed as a part of your costume – subject to prior approval by security and compliance with the following:

  • All costume weapons must be inspected by security.
  • We tag most weapons with a removable colorful zip-tie.
  • All costume weapons must conform to state and federal law.
  • Costume swords must be tied to your costume in such a way that they can’t be drawn.
  • If you do not want to have your costume weapons inspected or tagged, or if you are not willing to comply with these policies, please do not bring your costume weapons to NC Comicon.

Is there an ATM around here?
They are located in the lobby of the Durham Marriott and next to the restrooms in the Convention Center.

Where do I park?
There are a number of parking lots and decks in and around downtown Durham; we will be affixing our own signs around the area to aid in parking.

Is it okay for me to film/interview/otherwise record on the show floor for broadcast?
Yes, but only with the verbal permission of those you are filming/interviewing/otherwise recording. Please respect the wishes of our guests, exhibitors, and attendees in this regard. We would like to receive a copy of any video or audio interviews, as well as photographs. If your content will be purely available online (podcasts, etc.), a link will do.
