Welcome to the volunteer page of the 2018 NC Comicon Oak City! Here you will get our standard information on the volunteer process for our convention. Please READ all the information before applying to be a volunteer.
NC Comicon volunteers are called “Henchmen” within the organization. Henchmen help with both the preparation before a convention, and day-of tasks required during the convention itself. There are many different roles and tasks involved, and we do have a dynamic task-based system where Henchmen can be assigned to areas and tasks that are needed at any given time throughout the convention.
There are two tiers of support that a volunteer can choose from. Please read the description and fill out the application that best suits your availability. Please DO NOT fill out two applications. If you wish to change or cancel your application, submit the change to the volunteer coordinators by emailing them at [email protected].
The first tier is called the “Minion” support tier in which the volunteer works one 4 hour shift given to them by the volunteer coordinator. A total of 4 hours of volunteer work are required to receive one-weekend pass to the convention. If this is something that fits your volunteer needs, click the link below to fill out the application for this tier.
The second is the “Henchmen 2.0” support tier in which the volunteer works two 4 hour shifts given to them by the volunteer coordinator. A total of 8 hours of volunteer work is required to receive two-weekend passes to the convention. If this is something that fits your volunteer needs, click the link below to fill out the application for this tier.
We have volunteer meetings once a month. These are not mandatory, but can greatly help in communicating information about the convention. Most meets will also by broadcast live on Facebook at NC Henchmen. Like the page to get information on meetings, events, and guest announcements. All meetings are held at the Ultimate Comics Cary location at 1301 Buck Jones Road, Raleigh NC 27606 at 9 am, unless stated via communications.
The dates for the meetings are as followed:
Schedules for Henchmen will be provided to the volunteers one week (or earlier if possible) prior to the convention. Any schedule requests need to be submitted as soon as possible. Deadlines for these requests will be determined by the volunteer coordinator. No schedule changes will be made after the Monday prior to the convention.
